We’re not there yet, but soon we’ll be looking forward to the next winter vacation. Most of us will travel in our own car. And once you’re all geared up, you can unwind and enjoy your winter fun on skis, snowboards or sleighs.

With up to nine seats, three lengths and two battery sizes (with a maximum range of 329km), the Zafira-e Life combines generous space with high traveling comfort. Its fully electric drive has an output of 100kW (136PS), the batteries (optionally 50kW/75kW) are housed in the car floor between the axles and can pull trailer loads of up to 1,000kg. Electric sliding doors that can be opened from outside with a movement of the foot are not the only aspect of comfortable living onboard. Optionally, the fully electric Zafira can be configured with up to seven individual leather seats as a “lounge on wheels”. The tailgate window, which can be opened independently of the tailgate, is yet another highly practical feature for a family holiday.

Winter tyres are essential

Prior to the big ride into your dream skiing region, it’s advisable to conduct proper research, given that many skiing regions have special regulations for the winter season. In Germany and Austria there is no general rule to use winter tyres, but it becomes mandatory in winter conditions. The same applies to Switzerland; if unsuitable tyres result in obstructions or even an accident, the driver will be held liable. In some places it’s also mandatory to use snow chains. In Italy this rule applies differently in different provinces. On the Brenner motorway and in the Aosta Valley winter tyres are mandatory between 15th of November and 15th of April. France also has no general rule of using winter tyres or snow chains while it can be implemented at short notice. However, in principle one should always use winter tyres for a winter holiday. Carrying a set of snow chains is also sensible as they can become mandatory on snow-covered mountain roads while you also have the possibility of renting them. Furthermore, it’s best to place your skiing equipment safely in a roof box using lashing straps so that, for example, your heavy skiing boots won’t hurtle through your car when you step on the brakes.
