Find the suitable tire

Which tire fits my car?

Car owners know the issue, at the latest when they have to change their tyres from winter to summer tyres or vice versa. Primarily, technical functionality remains the priority. After that, you can focus on the "fashionable" parameters, such as appearance, profile, sportiness, size and the manufacturer's brand.

Safety & functionality

The vast majority of motorists define tires as "round and black", thus degrading them to a low-interest product, a necessary evil. But beware. Because the four palm-sized tyre contact surfaces on passenger cars are the only and vital connection between vehicle and the road. That is why no compromises must be made with tyres.

When must a tyre be replaced?

Drivers should keep the age of the tyres in mind: The age of the tyre is stamped on the sidewall of the tyre as a four-digit DOT number. If, for example, 4018 is written behind "DOT" and the two following four-digit letter combinations, this means that the tyre was produced in the 40th calendar week of the year 18 (i.e. 2018).

There is no legal basis for the age of tyres. The legislator in Germany and Europe only regulates the legally required minimum tread depth (1.6 mm). But this much can be said - the round black ones are exposed to high stresses such as strongly fluctuating temperatures and extreme mechanical loads. Consequently, the age of each tyre gnaws at its resistance.

Quality pays off

Tyres are not all the same and although the layperson often cannot tell the difference between a high quality tyre and a cheap product, the differences are drastically noticeable. A modern vehicle, which is equipped with all safety-conscious driver assistance systems, loses safety if it is fitted with low quality tyres. Before you decide on a tyre, researching the latest tyre test pays off as a guideline.

Which tyre is the right one now?

Drivers will find the right tyre size not only in the vehicle documents. If you need new tyres and are wondering which ones fit my car, you will find the tyre designation directly on the side of the tyres in use. The information is displayed as a combination of numbers and letters. From this you can read the tyre size.

For example, the code of tyre 205 / 55 R16 has this meaning:

205 – stands for the tyre width in millimetres
55 – indicates the ratio of tyre width to sidewall height in percent
R – indicates the radial construction of the tyre
16 – indicates the diameter of the tyres measured in inches (corresponds to the size of the required rim)

The solution is simple

Without a tire a rim makes little sense and without a rim no tire. But this inseparable symbiosis also means that the two are a perfect technical match. To help you find your way through the "technology jungle", DEZENT offers the online rim configurator. Every car driver can thus quickly and easily configure the technically 100 percent suitable combination of rims and tyres for his or her vehicle. In addition, DEZENT also provides the corresponding TÜV certificates, information on suitable tyre pressure monitoring sensors, if installed in the vehicle, and suitable anti-theft devices at a glance. It doesn't get much easier than this.
